ABOUT AND CLIENTS
DIEGO BECAS
Diego Becas is an illustrator, designer and multidisciplinary artist based in Santiago de Chile.
His images, evocative and conceptual, scream, whisper or remain silent. These encompass, among many other supports, book covers, cultural posters, editorial illustrations, wine labels, tote bags, ceramic dishes, music videos, brand images, packaging, public realm and small christmas greetings cards.
He conceives the world using analogous techniques such as engraving, cut paper, wood, ink, watercolor, acrylic, stencil, small objects creating allegorical stage, hand lettering and a reduced color palette. The result is expressive visual metaphors rich in textures.
Trained as a designer, he develops projects in an integral way from an authorial perspective. Creating the concept, storytelling, illustration and final design of the piece.
Clients related to the field of culture, arts and design have relied on its visual language, developing their careers, mainly, in the European market.
In 2019 the book “Silent, invisible, anonymous and slow. Posters 2009-2018” was published. A monograph that brings together the best of his poster work.
This 2020 he launches his brand Pagan Gods Tote Bags to celebrate his 15-year career around the creation of posters, book covers and various design projects. PGTB is a place of freedom and visual experimentation from which it intends to honor its intellectual references, propose the unexpected and share with you its most intimate, personal and extravagant creative imaginary.
He has made 9 individual poster exhibitions and participated in 30 collective exhibitions around the world.
His works have been exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Louvre Museum of Decorative Arts, London's Somerset House, Retrovangarda Gallery in Warsaw, 3sec Gallery in the Netherlands, the Moscow International Design Biennial, the Ibero-American Design Biennial in Madrid. (BID), University of Fine Arts of Cartagena de Indias and in poster biennials in New York, Milan, Ukraine, Mexico, Bolivia and Ecuador, among others.
